The number of people taken on as apprentices in Croydon South has almost doubled in the last 12 months.
New figures published by the Data Service show a record tally of 670 apprenticeships were launched in the constituency last year, compared to 340.
Provisional statistics suggest 170 new apprentices were taken on between August and October 2012.
Richard Ottaway, MP for Croydon South, said: "This is fantastic news for the people of Croydon South. Despite the economic crisis raging in the background, our Government has invested heavily in ensuring that there are opportunities for people who are determined to improve their skills and get working.
“Apprenticeships are great for our country and most of all for the people whose lives are being transformed by the opportunities they offer."
