HERE’S the moment the remarkable Andy Reid descended on a 235ft abseil from the Big One rollercoaster in Blackpool.
It was posted by his wife Claire on Twitter along with the words: “LEGEND!!!!!! Tears of Pride.”
Ex-soldier Andy, 36, a triple amputee following the war in Afghanistan, joined a group of veterans and serving soldiers on an abseil down the UK’s tallest rollercoaster.
The event was staged by ABF the Soldier’s Charity, which Andy, from Windle, is an ambassador of.
Afterwards he told Granada Reports, which filmed the event: “It was quite difficult at first to get going, my shoulder was aching a bit and it was hard because I could not make a fist.
“But I just did it slowly and steady. Hopefully it can help show injured soldiers and amputees what you can do when you put your mind to it.”
It was the latest adventure for Andy, whose previous challenges have included tandem skydiving, running part of the St Helens 10K, and a ‘Boom’ trike ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats.
