Councillors will decide next week whether to grant a Norbiton pub a new licence allowing it to put on striptease, pole dance and lap dancing shows.

The Sir Robert Peel, in Hampden Road, has applied for a sex establishment licence to operate a sexual entertainment venue – which permits live performances involving nudity.

The pub has offered such shows for several years under previous licensing laws, but has had to re-apply for permission following changes to the Local Government Act.

Members of the Kingston Town Neighbourhood Committee will decide next Wednesday, June 26 whether or not to grant the licence, after receiving six objections from residents.

The Peel is the second venue in the borough to apply for a sex establishment licence after nightclub Ama-Gi in High Street, Kingston, was granted one in January.
