Epsom pupils enter dragon's den

Pupils at Blenheim High School in Epsom were put through their paces last week taking part in a 'Dragon’s Den'-style presentation.

About 40 year 10 students took part in the event on Wednesday, February 1, as part of their GCSE business studies course.

Learning about how to set up a successful business, students have been working in teams to create a business plan to present to the ‘dragons’, members of the business community, who in the style of the popular BBC TV asked questions and grilled the students on their plans.

Business ideas ranged from a South American themed food sauce to a revolutionary games console but the idea deemed ‘most likely to succeed’ was an electronic planning device called Port-a-Planner put forward by Matthew Ramcharan, Shyam Morjaria and James Milan.

Andrew Grace, leader of enterprise education business and the school, said: "The presentations were absolutely fantastic and we have got good feedback from the judges and parents who attended.

"We wanted to give them a real feel for business and get businesses involved.

"It is important that what with everything going on in the economy at the moment that we give pupils a passion for business as we want future entrepreneurs. Overall I was very pleased with how the event went."
