A bank where bosses do not take bonuses is sponsoring Sutton's business awards.
Handelsbanken, has been announced as headline sponsor for the Sutton Business Awards 2012, organised by South London Business.
Hazel Hellier, branch manager of Handelsbanken's Croydon branch, said the awards was a chance for participating businesses and the borough as a whole will benefit from the chance to showcase its success stories.
Ms Hellier said: "This is a great opportunity for local businesses of all sizes to benefit as entering the awards gives businesses the chance to look closely at their strategies by creating or revisiting their business plans to bring their vision to life."
"Winning an award or being a finalist will enable the businesses to benefit from the advertising and prestige associated with the award, which in turn will boost staff morale and deliver long-term benefits.
"This in turn raises the profile of not only the local business, but the town and borough itself."
All businesses based in Sutton are eligible to take part in the awards.
Entry is free and businesses can enter any of the 12 categories: Sutton Business of the Year, Best Small and Medium Enterprise, Best Business for Training and Development, Commitment to the Community, Best Green Business, Best Business for Marketing, Best Business for Customer Service, Best Business for Hospitality & Leisure, Best Independent Retailer, Sutton’s Favourite Business, Entrepreneur of the Year and Best New Business.
The awards are also being backed by the Sutton Guardian, Sutton Chamber of Commerce and Sutton Council.
Wimners will be announced at a gala dinner and awards ceremony at Epsom Racecourse on May 10.
Guests will enjoy a drinks reception and a three-course meal before the winners are announced. A raffle and silent auction will be hosted by radio presenter James Cannon, the compere for the evening, with all proceeds going to charity.
Ross Feeney, director of business support for South London Business Ltd, said: "We are delighted to be able to host the inaugural Sutton Business Awards.
