A firm of Croydon solicitors has set up two new branches dealing exclusively with the new Home Information Pack (Hip) system for house buyers.

The new McMillan Williams offices will issue energy performance certificates, and the rest of the documentation which make up the packs.

Every homeowner selling a house with four or more bedrooms must now compile a Hip, which includes a home energy efficiency rating.

The pack includes advice on how to cut carbon emissions and fuel bills. Also included are documents such as a sale statement, searches and evidence of title.

The packs are expected to be extended to include smaller homes.
