This is how the future face of entertainment in Croydon could look if a multi-million-pound plan to transform Fairfield Halls wins public support.
Croydon's most famous entertainment venue is set for a radical overhaul. The concrete facade of the 1960s building will be replaced with a modern glass structure housing a concert hall for up to 2,500 people and a 750-seat auditorium for theatrical and musical events.
The scheme, which also includes housing, retail, leisure facilities and a piazza linking Fairfield with the Queen's Gardens, is outlined in a draft planning brief.
The public will have their say on the council's plans to modernise the venue over the coming month.
Councillor Adrian Dennis, cabinet member for planning, environment and urban development, said: "The development of the area will guarantee Fairfield's future as the hub of the town's cultural quarter, helping create a real urban renaissance for the heart of Croydon."
The plans will be on display at Fairfield Halls between 10.30am and 8pm on Thursday, August 19.
Copies of the planning brief can also be viewed at the council's One Stop Shop or by visiting www.croydon.gov.uk.
