Modial striving to give something back to town

Customer relationship specialists Mondial has become one of the first companies in the borough to appoint a corporate social responsibility advocate.

As part of its own ongoing commitment to Croydon, Mondial UK has appointed Canadian-born Jennifer Kiwala to ensure the company, based in George Street, Croydon, gives something back to the community.

Jennifer's role will involve developing and implementing internal policies and projects to help Mondial's employees and the local community.

The 29-year-old sociology graduate said: "I'm really looking forward to hepling develop the links Mondial has with the local community. I feel it's time to take the issue of CSR seriously and for companies like Mondial to give back to the community."

She added: "I think it is crucial for larger companies to give back to the community instead of focusing on the end result the profit.

"In this day and age companies should help their local community because in a roundabout way that is who supports them."Jennifer is delighted that Mondial has shown a commitment to helping the community.

"I think appointing a CSR advocate shows that Mondial are very forward thinking and that they are taking CSR seriously and ready to put their money where their mouth is. It is nice to see things come to fruition."

Simon Kirby, Mondial's marketing manager, said it was important for big companies to take the issue of corporate social responsibility seriously.

He said: "From our perspective as a large employer we have a responsibility to help make Croydon a better place to live and work.

"I like to think the appointment of Jennifer shows we are forward thinking and that we can lead from the front."
