Merton Council is hoping to expand several primary schools in the borough to meet an increase in demand for places.

The council is currently consulting on proposed plans for Hillcross, Merton Abbey, Pelham, Poplar and Singlegate primary schools.

Plans include tripling the number of permanent places at Singlegate from 210 to 630 excluding the nursery.

The legal process has been completed to permanently expand Wimbledon Park, St Mary’s Roman Catholic, All Saints’ Church of England and Cranmer primary schools.

All Saints’ Church of England will have two forms of entry through the use of an additional site in Haydon’s Road for 180 of its 210 new places.
