A sponsored skipping event held at a Walton school has raised £2,500 for the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
More than 380 children at Walton Oak School, aged between four and 11, took part in the event, described as an afternoon of “fun, enjoyment and togetherness”.
The active afternoon consisted of circuits for each key stage, made up of double-dutch, freestyle, partners and endurance skipping.
The event was accompanied by music selected by the children.
A representative from the north Surrey branch of the BHF attended the school’s morning assembly on Monday, June 17, to be presented with a cheque for the raised amount.
The school was presented with a certificate and gifts were given to pupils who had made a special effort to raise money for the charity.
Kelly Slaymaker, PE teacher at Walton Oak, said: “The school would very much like to thank the parents, carers, family members, friends and neighbours of all pupils who attend Walton Oak for their generosity in sponsoring our children to complete this fantastic event for a wonderful charity.
“Needless to say, all staff are incredibly proud of our pupils efforts.”
