Grabbing their violins with pride, a group of youngsters showed off their new found musical talent with an outdoor performance.
Three and four year-olds at Long Ditton Infant and Nursery School have been taught violin by Julia Shin since February, and enjoyed a performance in the sun to round off their learning experience.
The young musicians started learning with a box violin before progressing on to playing on real, mini violins.
Ms Shin said: “It was an experience and an experiment to see if nursery students could play the violin. It was to expose them to music generally.
“I have a real passion for music to be incorporated at a younger level in state education.”
The pupils played short rhythms based on a twinkle twinkle theme, to a song called ‘I am very happy’.
The programme will continue next year when new students join the nursery, before opening up to the rest of the school.
