Students were treated to a variety of fun activities and creative freedom as part of their bid to raise money for charity.

Last week students at ACS Cobham International School hosted a charity week in aid of raising money for children’s charity Hopes and Homes, which helps to provide orphaned, abandoned or vulnerable children with a home.

Luke Welch, student council coo-rdinator at ACS Cobham, said: “It is really important to for students to take part in charitable events like this because it raises their awareness of the plights of others and encourages them to be empathetic towards others.”

The event has been organised by the student council and involved students across the high school, aged 14 to 18.

On each day students came to school in fancy dress from a particular theme. Monday was pyjama day, Wednesday was pirates versus ninjas, and Friday went back in time with 80s-themed fancy dress.

Teachers were not exempt from the fun as they were also sponsored by students to dress up on the themed days.

Other fundraising activities included donating soft toys throughout the week, selling doughnuts and hot chocolate, bake sales and a hot dog eating contest.
