There has been a four-fold rise in online applications for school places in Surrey next September, the county council has said.
More than 24,000 of the 27,000 forms the authority expects to get once paper applications have been processed were sent using the council’s web system.
This means that nearly nine out of 10 applications were submitted online this year.
Last year just under 6,200 forms were received using the internet - slightly more than one in five applications.
Councillor Peter Martin, Surrey County Council’s cabinet member for children and learning, said: “Schools, parents and the county council’s admissions staff deserve great praise.
"We wholeheartedly encourage applying online in the interests of making the process speedy, painless and cost efficient.
"A four-fold increase in the number of web forms sent to us is a magnificent achievement.”
