Children ran into a British sporting legend on Friday when hurdler Colin Jackson visited a Wimbledon school.
The Olympic silver medallist visited Holy Trinity School in Effra Road to launch a new initiative that aims to tackle childhood obesity.
The global children’s challenge, a national project funded by British businesses, is set to start in September.
Pupils will be encouraged to keep track of how far they walk every day for eight weeks, with the total steps taking them on a virtual journey around the world - including lessons about the countries they ‘visit’ on the way.
Jackson said: “Kids in the UK face so many obstacles to getting them engaged with their health and wellbeing and the global children’s challenge is a fantastic way to get them to do so.”
