Students in Streatham have been celebrating their A-level results this morning.

At Dunraven School, Felix Priestley, of Thurleston Road, racked up four A* grades in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry.

He has accepted a place to study Astrophysics at University College London from September.

Speaking modestly about his achievement, he said: "I am pretty happy. I was pretty sure I could get the grades for my reserve choice. I wasn't too nervous."

Felix hopes to become a research professor in the future and complete a PhD.

Meanwhile Saskia Evans-Perks, of Romola Road, Tulse Hill, has won a place to study Psychology at Sussex after getting straight As in Psychology, Sociology and Maths.

She said: "I am really relieved- I didn't think I was going to do that well. I thought my exams went really badly but obviously I was wrong. I am really happy. I am just pleased I am moving onto the next stage."

Headteacher David Boyle said almost half of the school's students gained A*-B grades and more than three quarters got A*-C grades.

He said the "overwhelming majority" of students got their first choice of university.

He said: "There are many individual success stories of academic excellence as well as those of students who have overcome adversity whilst studying for their exams.

"We are equally proud of all of these students. The results are a testament to the hard work of our young people, supported by the expertise of their teachers and the commitment of their families."
