Pupils at a school are celebrating their best A-level results to date.

More than 80% of girls at Streatham & Clapham High School (GDST) achieved grades of A*-B, up from 69.1% in 2010.

Head girl, Helen Manning, achieved an A* grade in Spanish and A grades in French and Mathematics. She will continue her studies at Edinburgh University in Modern European Languages from September.

Another student, Yasemin Hacioglu, also secured a place at Edinburgh to study English and History of Art after achieving three A* grades in English Literature, Fine Art and History. This year Yasemin also won a school travel scholarship to study culture in Florence.

Deputy Head, Richard Hinton said he was "delighted" with the results.

He said: "In a particularly competitive year, the majority of our students have secured places at the university of their choice.

"Our students have been rewarded for their hard work and application, while continuing to enjoy a flourishing extra-curricular programme.

"I would also like to thank our dedicated staff who have, through their excellent teaching and pastoral care, inspired and supported the girls throughout their time at Streatham & Clapham."
