When the architect behind one of London’s most iconic landmarks congratulates you on your design skills, you know you’re doing something right.
Chet Foster, a year 9 pupil at The Elmgreen School in Tulse Hill, has been commended for winning a national design contest by Julia Barfield, who helped develop the London Eye.
Ms Barfield praised 13-year-old Chet’s “imaginative response to the brief” in the Open-City’s Architecture in Schools Competition, which looks to uncover architects of the future.
Headteacher John Wilkinson said: “The Architecture in schools project has helped our students engage with other beautiful spaces and stimulated their creative thinking- we are proud to have been involved.”
