Children at a primary school will be watching the cream of Britain’s athletes compete for gold at next year’s Olympics.

Staff and pupils at St Jude’s Church of England Primary School, in Herne Hill, are celebrating after it was announced as the 10,000th school to be awarded Olympic tickets by the London 2012 Education Programme’s Get Set network.

Two-time Paralympic bronze medallist Sinclair Thomas visited the school this week to mark the event.

Headteacher Florence Wilson said: “Our children, parents and staff have been keenly anticipating this momentous event.

“The children have practised new sports and learned about the Olympic and Paralympic Values.

“We have been particularly honoured to have received a visit from a renowned athlete, Sinclair Thomas - who was inspirational.”

The closing date for the scheme is December 16. For more information visit getset.london2012.com/en/home.
