An international dance festival was held at Greenshaw High School in Sutton.

Children from nine Sutton schools including Robin Hood Infants, Bandon Hill and Stanley Park came as different countries and performed native dances on Thursday, March 22.

Greenshaw High School and Westbourne Primary School opened the ceremony with a dance which was followed by children parading to their national anthems and waving their flags.

The dances included a New Zealand Haka, an Irish jig and an English country dance.

Medals were given out at the end of the festival.

William Smith, the headteacher of Greenshaw High School said: “We were thrilled to see so many eager dancers from a large number of primary schools at Greenshaw High School.

“The students and teachers had spent weeks preparing their dances and costumes and the presentations and atmosphere were fabulous. Well done to all involved.”
