An intrepid Sutton student is hitch-hiking across Europe for charity.

Ben Whitton, 19, set off on his 990-mile exhibition with his two university friends on Saturday.

The group is heading from London to Croatia, taking in Holland, Germany and Austria en route.

"I hope we will not need to be armed with anything else to be honest," the University of Sussex psychology student said.

"It's going to be an amazing adventure and we also get to make money for a fantastic cause."

All the money raised will go to Link Community Development, which helps improve education facilities in sub-Saharan Africa.

So far the group have raised over £800 but they need more.

The event, which is organised by the charity, last year raised around £400,000.
