President Obama’s education expert took a lesson at a college in Ewell on Tuesday, May 15.

Dr Alexa Posny was appointed By Barack Obama to oversee education for students with learning difficulties in the United States.

The activities of a group at Nescot College came to her attention and she decided to offer her support by launching their College Inclusion Charter, designed to help colleges across the country support youngsters need to get into education and employment.

Lyn Reddick, head of the Preparation for Work and Life department at the college, had no idea that her decision to help the charity Ambitious about Autism would grab the attention of Dr Alexa Posny.

She said: "Just one in four youngsters with autism get any sort of education after they leave school. It’s such a waste of these kids’ lives and I knew I had to help."

Dr Posny saw for herself the success stories at Nescot College, and said: "The work that’s being done here at Nescot College in Britain is inspiring.

"The achievements of staff and students is one of the best things I have ever seen and I am so pleased to have had the chance to meet everyone here."
