9:06am Friday 7th May 2010 in Local Elections 2010 By Harry Miller
Croydon is set for another day of nail-biting election excitement after waking up to the very real threat of a hung Parliament.
Yesterday a record number of voters turned out across the country to vote in what was tipped to be the closet election of recent times.
Last night, Tory favourite, Gavin Barwell took Croydon Central from his old friend, independent candidate, Andrew Pelling.
Croydon North remained with Malcolm Wicks and Conservative held Croydon South stayed with Richard Ottaway.
Today local council candidates will find out whether they are to be elected to represent their local wards.
There are 24 council wards with 70 seats to be fought by 284 candidates.
The Croydon Guardian is at the polling station bringing you up to date results as and when they happen.
