A series of fund-raising events are planned in September to help raise much-needed money for James Haddad's treatment overseas.

Local R&B duo, Leon and Amber Zakatek have arranged a four date mini-tour in local restaurants where they will perform live in aid of the James Haddad Appeal.

The mini-tour starts with two dates at My Old China Restaurant in Purley on Wednesday, September 11, and Thursday, September 19, with half the cover price going to the appeal.

My Old China owner William Chan said: "We tend to do about two or three charity nights each year, offering Chinese banquets, with half the money raised going to a good cause. When my good friend approached me about helping James, a local boy, I was more than happy to help."

The event is ticket only and two menus are on offer, priced at £65 and £45, with half the cover price going to the appeal.

The £65 menu is an extravagant four-course seafood menu including choices like langustines, fresh Scottish lobster and sea bass fillets. The £45 menu is the chef's special with crispy duck, sea spiced lamb or monk fish.

Mr Chan added: "The two menus on offer are top of the range in terms of quality. And with LA Zakatek providing musical entertainment, it should be one of the highlights of the year."

A further date has been added at Las Fuentas in Purley on Tuesday, September 17 but tickets (£22 including meal) for all these evenings are only available by advanced booking.

There will also be a fund-raising evening held at Kudos, Purley Way, on Thursday, September 12, including an auction, a celebrity raffle, dancing and a live performance by L.A. Zakatek. Tickets are £8 for adults, and £4 for under 12s. Please come along and show your support.
