Parents with children who turned 11 before September 1, 2012 have only a few days left to apply for a secondary school place.
The main deadline for applications closes at midnight on October 31, with those that meet it given first priority in allocation of places.
Applications can be made online, with parents being urged to use all six preferences, and to check if any preferred schools have specific admissions criteria.
Councillor Tim Pollard, cabinet member for children, families and learning, said: “We always do our very best to place children into one of the schools that parents have expressed a preference for.
“And whilst with some 80,000 children looking for a place this is not always possible, it is far more likely to happen if everyone makes use of all six options.”
Online applications can be made at croydon.gov.uk/admissions.
