A man escaped uninjured from a house fire in Thornton Heath this morning.

London Fire Brigade were called to Fountain Road at 7.38am where a semi detached house was on fire.

Fifty per cent of the ground floor was damaged by the time the fire was put out.

The man who had escaped from the house before firefighters arrived, was treated at the scene for slight smoke inhalation.

Fifteen firefighters from West Norwood and Norbury Fire Station were called to the incident.

If my mind serves me correctly, fountain road (off of parchmore road) is a really skinny road.....even more skinny if cars were parked either side....the fire engine must have had a hell of a job trying to get up there......
