Child seat dangers highlighted by new campaign

Croydon Council is promoted the new campaign
The dangers of having the wrong child sear in your car are being highlighted by a new campaign.
A new campaign which is promoted by Croydon Council, TfL and Roadsafety UK, follows a recent survey of cars carried out by Croydon Council road safety officers.
They found as many as 85% of safety seats were wrongly fitted or not of the right type for the vehicle or for the height of the child. Some children were found in cars which had no restraints fitted at all.
An advertising van with this message will be visiting schools in the borough for the next two weeks and will also be in North End and in car parks of supermarkets and larger stores.
Councillor Jason Perry, cabinet member for planning, regeneration and transport, said: "The high number of children who are injured as passengers in cars could be significantly reduced if parents fitted proper safety seats.
"I was shocked to learn how many people don’t take this issue seriously, and I urge everyone to follow the advice of this campaign and get their safety seats checked over."
