Mayor Boris Johnson calls on the support to clean up Croydon
Mayor of London Boris Johnson has called upon Croydon residents to join his campaign to clean up the town.
The Capital Clean-up campaign, in partnership with McDonalds, is urging volunteers to come together for rubbish clearing events across the capital.
Grants of up to £500 are being offered to Croydon community groups and local businesses who apply to organise an event.
The campaign is also handing out special litter picking clean up kits to tackle litter, rubbish and graffiti in local areas.
The Mayor said: “Bringing people together to roll up their sleeves and tackle litter and mess in their communities can make the world of difference, giving areas a mini facelift and making them more enjoyable for locals and visitors alike.
"I hope as many people as possible in Croydon get involved in Capital Clean Up and help boost community pride by keeping our great city tidy and litter free.”
