Costume dramas are a popular mainstay on television schedules at Easter and this year one has a very musical slant.
Ten of the youngest Trinity School’s boys choir members dressed up as they would have been in the 18th century to appear in a programme about the early London performances of Handel’s Messiah.
The hour long documentary follows Thomas Coram’s work in setting up the Foundling Hospital and Handel’s support for this.
One of the pupils, Jeremie de Rijk, said: “It was really hard work because we had to get everything right and there wasn’t much time for doing anything twice.
“The costumes were amazing but not all the shoes fitted properly.
“We had to grow our hair long so that it could be styled as it would have been in 1750."
The show is on BBC2 on Saturday at 9.30pm.
