An England footballer was taken to hospital with a head injury after a Christmas party brawl at Wandsworth’s Ship Inn, it has been reported.

Queens Park Rangers defender Steven Caulker, 22, was taken to hospital with a head injury after reports of a row at a festive lunch for QPR and Crystal Palace players.
The police were called to a disturbance at the pub on Sunday evening. According to the Sun a woman spilled a drink over former England player Rio Ferdinand, who is now a QPR player.
Joey Barton is reported to have stepped into the row to act as “peacemaker”. Witnesses described seeing Caulker with blood pouring down his face.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said they were called at 6.45pm to the pub on Sunday, December 7. A man with a head injury was taken to a west London hospital.
Queens Park Rangers Football Club confirmed Caulker was treated for a cut head but denied it was the result of a fight.
QPR owner Tony Fernandes said on Twitter last night: “I'm aware of some headlines appearing in tomorrow newspaper. After a great win boys were given permission for a Sunday lunch.
“Team is very United and really playing for each other. Steven caulker slipped over and hurt his head and is fine. Nothing else to report.”
