A man paid an 11-year-old girl £2 after raping her, a court has heard.

Alex Baah, 42, is alleged to have sexually abused the girl every week at a house in New Addington over four years.

He began abusing her in 2008, when she was in primary school, the Old Bailey was told on Wednesday.

The girl, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, complained to police as a 15-year-old in August 2013.

She told police during a recorded interview that her alleged abuser, of Abbey Wood, would give her money after he raped her.

She said: "He was, like, 'take off your knickers'. I did and put them under the pillow and then... He gave me £2 extra."

The alleged victim, now aged 16, told officers the earliest attack she could remember took place when she was just 11.

Prosecutor Jennifer Knight said: "She has very little recollection of all the detail of the very earliest incidents."

The victim is said to have remembered being raped by Mr Baah when she was 12.

Ms Knight added: "From that time, she was raped regularly, once or twice a week."

After an attack in early August 2013, the alleged victim told friends about the abuse and the police were informed.

Baah, originally from Ghana, was arrested and denied having ever touched the girl sexually.

He has denied two counts of raping a child under the age of 13 and five counts of rape of the same victim between 2008 and 2013.

The trial continues.
