A sweet-toothed businesswoman is hoping to win over Richard Branson to bag big-money investment.

Sarah Lynne, founder of Sweets in the City, has called for public support to power her online sweet shop to the finals of the entrepreneur's Pitch to Rich 2015 competition.

She started selling sugary treats five years ago with the aim of spicing up the old-fashioned image of sweet shops and now has nine staff working from the company's base in Commerce Way, Waddon.

The 32-year-old said: "We are a small, passionate team that source, design, hand pack and sell beautifully packaged sweet gifts.

"Winning the competition and even being shortlisted would help us hugely."

Sweets in the City is vying against businesses across the country for a share of £1m prizes including advertising campaigns, cash investment and mentoring.

The 50 firms that bag the most votes will get through to the next round and will ultimately be whittled down to three that will pitch to Mr Branson.
