Croydon Central MP Gavin Barwell is ahead of close Labour rival Sarah Jones for the first time in months, according to the latest Lord Ashcroft poll.
The Conservative stole a four-point lead with just six days remaining until the country goes to the poll in a snapshot published this afternoon.
The news will be a blow to Mrs Jones, who was four points ahead in Ashcroft's last poll in March and said today she felt "the momentum" was with her.
Today's Ashcroft poll put the Conservatives on 44 per cent, with Labour trailing on 40.
Mr Barwell this afternoon said he "would not get complacent" following the polls.
Croydon Central Ashcroft poll (April 26-30)
Conservative 44%
Labour 40%
Liberal Democrat 2%
UKIP 10%
Green 3%
