An aspiring pop star who works for Croydon social services is hoping his new EP will head up the charts this month.

Antony Jawahall, 37, from Addiscombe, has worked for the adult care team at Croydon University Hospital for the past five years and has managed to fund a home studio and produce music around his job.

His song The Weekend’s Here made the finals of The UK Songwriting Contest 2014, and will be available for download on May 29.

Jawahall says making music is the best way for him to relax after the challenges of his working environment, and he told us about Mylo Grace Music Productions, named after his son Mylo, seven.

He says: “I always wanted to be a role model for him to show if you want to do something you can achieve it.”

With the help of his manager, Diane Reeve-J-Lewis, Jawahall filmed a video for the track The Weekend’s Here which features his friend Shaun Wallace, who won Mastermind 2004 and is The Dark Destroyer from ITV’s The Chase.

l The Weekend’s Here will be available to pre-order on iTunes, Spotify and Xbox Music from May 22. View the video at http://www.jawahall.com.
