A elderly man died in a fire at a block of flats in Addiscombe this morning.
He was found by firefighters in the ground floor of the four-storey building in Addiscombe Road at about 11am.
He was pronounced dead by paramedics.
London Fire Brigade sent two fire engines and ten firefighters from Croydon and Woodside stations to the blaze, which partly damaged the building.
Firefighters were called at 10.30am and had the flames under control by 11am.
The cause of the fire, near the junction with Lebanon Road, is under investigation.
