A man reported missing last week has been found dead in a Croydon hotel room.

John Neville Singh, 67, was discovered unresponsive by officers in a room at the Premier Inn in Lansdowne Road, Croydon, shortly after 11pm on Friday.

Mr Singh had been reported missing from his Mitcham home on Wednesday, 19 August.

Mr Singh is believed to have been a solicitor with more than 30 years of experience in civil litigation, according to a LinkedIn Profile in his name, and a former magistrate in the Central American nation of Belize.

Formal identification was yet to take place, although police have said they are satisfied that the body is Mr Singh.

A post-mortem examination has been scheduled, and the death is not currently being treated as suspicious.

His next of kin have been informed.
