Filming has got underway in Croydon for a new film featuring a star-studded cast including Nicole Kidman and Matt Lucas.

FAMOUS FACES:

How To Talk To Girls At Parties is based on a short story set in the 1970s by sci-fi writer Neil Gaiman, an alumnus of Whitgift School.

It tells the tale of two teenage boys meeting, and struggling to talk to, a girl at a party - not suspecting that their new friend has dropped in from a whole other galaxy.

The film's synopsis on IMDB reads: "An alien touring the galaxy breaks away from her group and meets two young inhabitants of the most dangerous place in the universe: the London suburb of Croydon."

Trailers for the cast and crew spotted parked up near Croydon College today for a first day of shooting in the town centre, although it is understood Ms Kidman was not filming today.

The film is directed by John Cameron Mitchell, and also stars Elle Fanning, Ruth Wilson, and Alex Sharp.
