A woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was found repeatedly stabbed in a park.

The 32-year-old victim was discovered collapsed in Roundshaw playing fields by police responding to a 999 call from a resident of a nearby street.

Officers carried out emergency life support on the man, who was found conscious and breathing near to Vickers Close at 9.50pm on Friday.

Paramedics took the man, who had been stabbed five or six times in the back, to hospital. He was discharged today.

A 44-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. She was taken into custody at a south London police station and has been bailed until October.

Police today appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
