Family and friends have paid tribute to a young dad and aspiring rapper shot dead in Broad Green.

Akeem Moore, 22, was gunned down in Eastney Road at 11.25pm on Friday.

The father-of-three, who performed music under name Tuggzy, was pronounced dead in the street.

His mother Lilian Hinchley-Nelson wrote on Facebook hours after his killing: "Today I mourn the death of my eldest son. May God give myself and my family the strength and comfort at this time.

"I love you my baby prince Akeem, may your soul rest in sweet perfect peace.

"We will miss you dearly especially your three children."

Friends posted tributes to Mr Moore, a former pupil at St Mary's Roman Catholic High School in Croydon, on social media.

One, tweeting under the name @AuntyKaydene, said: "I don't wanna hear no stories, all I know is three kids have lost their daddy. RIP".

Virgo Khamun wrote: "When I came off the phone. I thought. I'm good. Then it sunk in. All you ever did was smile. Tuggzy. WHY!?"

On Mr Moore's Facebook page, Elby Bage wrote: "RIP Bro only spoke to you couple days ago gone but not forgotten".

Friends have shared an online fundraising page appealing for donations towards Mr Moore's funeral.

The page reads: "He was forever smiling and taking pictures.

"He was a bubbly person and was always laughing. He was a footballer he would train once a week and would always look forward to training.

"Akeem was also trying to fulfil his 2nd dream by going studio and recording music as well as shooting music videos to his songs."

Mr Moore had filmed music videos with other London rappers, including Yung Reeks.

His musical collaborators are among those who have paid tribute online.

Croydon rapper Floss posted a photo of Mr Moore on Instagram, and wrote: "Tugga ma brother I don't know what to say or do bro. Shit don't make no sense to me".

Murder detectives are investigating the shooting but have made no arrests and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Lee Watling said: "I need to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Eastney Road area late on Friday night.

"I would urge any witnesses, or anyone with information that may assist the investigation, to call police and tell us what they saw or what they know."

A post-mortem examination of Mr Moore's body was due to be held today.

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 020 8721 4205 or speak anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
