The death of a painter whose body was found in South Norwood woodland is not being treated as suspicious.

Police confirmed today the body found in Beaulieu Heights on Wednesday was that of Patrick James Cloherty, a 41-year-old from Bromley.

Mr Cloherty, who worked in Wallington for J and S Seddon Painting Limited, had been reported missing reported missing since Tuesday, February 24 at about 7am having last been seen in his home town.

His work vehicle, a red Ford Transit with Seddon written on the side, had already been discovered in Auckland Road on February 26.

A post mortem examination took place this morning (Friday) but police are still awaiting toxicology reports and have yet to ascertain a cause of death.

Police had found the body in woodland off Auckland Road at about 3.40pm on Wednesday, March 4.

Posters asking for information about his whereabouts had been put up in the area.

A neighbour to the Auckland Road entrance of Beaulieu Heights said: "It's terrible, a guy was here about a week ago putting up posters for his missing uncle.

"He told us that his van had been parked down here and it looked like there had been a struggle inside.”
