Christopher Coco, who performs as rapper Dirtee Drahmha, knew Carl for four years having gone to Saint Francis Xavier College in Clapham together.

He said: “Carl was a funny guy, loved by everyone, very charming and a likeable person. He was very talented.

“He had done a lot of things since college doing music production. He loved the camera. He was a very popular guy - there are nearly 4,000 people on his tribute page [on Facebook].

“A lot of people were feeling his music. He was starting to make ground - a lot of his tracks were being played in Ayia Napa.”

Christopher, also 19, said he could not believe what happened and thought no one would hold a grudge against him.

He is planning to release Carl’s single Buy Out Da Bar in memory of Carl.

He said: “We’re going to let his family have their time and afterwards think of ways to remember him. He can live on through his single. We want to do something positive in his memory.

“He rapped about partying and uni life. He never talked about violence or crime. He was no 50 cent.”

A spokesman for Saint Francis Xavier College said: “We were deeply saddened today to learn of the death of Carl Beatson-Asiedu.

“He was a very good student who came to SFX from Thames Christian College to study an advanced BTEC course in Media.

"Students and tutors remember him as a very friendly and likeable young man.

"While at SFX he achieved a Merit in his Media Diploma which won him a place at De Montfort University Leicester where he had just finished the 1st year of a Media Production degree.

“All our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this very sad time as we see yet another young life with so much talent and promise end in tragedy.

"Staff and students are on vacation at the moment but a service will be held at the start of the new college year where we will pray for the repose of his soul and that God will give his family and friends the strength and courage to help them bear this loss.”

Two men, an 18-year-old and a 20-year-old, have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in custody.
