Croydon pre-prep pupils collect gifts for disadvantaged children

7:50am Wednesday 18th November 2009

Pre-prep pupils from Cumnor House school in South Croydon hope to bring smiles to the faces of disadvantaged children this Christmas, after collecting more than 100 shoeboxes filled with presents for Operation Christmas Child.

The offerings will be sent to children in Eastern Europe, Africa and Central Asia under the charity scheme, which provided more than 1.2m shoeboxes of presents from British people last year.

Boxes are collected up and sorted in giant warehouses before being hand-delivered by volunteers.

Anyone interested in running a similar project can order a free resource pack from the charity’s website, operationchristmaschild.org.uk.
