A youth engagement officer from Merton has created a new style of basketball game to help young people in Croydon stay active and stay out of trouble.
Joseph Maye, 33, helped to create B2B Basketball which is a two on two format of the game played on a half court.
Each game only lasts for six minutes and the format has already attracted more than 2000 youths from across London.
England Basketball have joined forces with Mr Maye who is currently running training and coaching sessions at the Archbishop Lanfranc School every Monday from May 2 for 10 weeks.
Evenings run from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
Mr Maye said: “We are hoping to make these sessions as enjoyable and successful as possible and - engage as many children and young people aged between 13 and 19 as we can.
“This new format of basketball is something we are really proud of and the feedback we have been getting from the kids is amazing.”
Mr Maye and the B2B Baketball Half Courts team ran a one day event in at Archbishop Lanfranc School on April 21, more than 80 children and young people attended the day.
