Thousands of commuters are facing hours of delays due to a mudslide on a train line near East Croydon station - here are your stories from the queues...

Matt, James, Jamie, Joe and Ryan, all 16 and 17, are returning from a five-day festival in Dorset.

They have been in the queue for more than an hour and a half.

James, 17, said: "We are travelling to Seaford near Brighton, from here the queue is meant to be an hour.

"If we can't get home we are going to have to get a B&B or worse comes to it, we will use our tent."

Laura Alderson, 46, is travelling from Wimbledon to Brighton.

She said: "I feel sorry for the people that have missed their flight from Gatwick.

"They have given us water but it's quite hot in the sun. I don't think the staff could do much better other than if they gave us a sandwich."

Alecia Rivas, 25, is travelling to Spain. Her flight leaves Gatwick at 8.40 and she has already been in the queue for an hour.

She said: "I hope we have enough time to make our flight. We have no idea how long this might take."

Mike Andrews, 37, is travelling home to Haywards Heath. He has been waiting 50 minutes and reckons he has another two and a half hours to wait.

"I am surprised people are still being directed through East Croydon knowing how busy it is."

Mrs Smith is travelling to Three Bridges and has been waiting about an hour.

"I have no idea how long it will take to get to the buses as it differs depending on who you talk to."

Jill Bracey is travelling to West Sussex from Croydon.

She said: "I have been waiting for 45 minutes and have no idea how long it will take to get on the bus."

Aasmund, 74, has been in Britain since Friday and is meant to be catching a return flight to Norway at 8.55pm.

He said: "I am not impressed by the British railway system. I have been here over an hour and didn't expect a two mile long queue."

Ronald, 42, travelled up from Brighton for an appointment in Peckham, which he missed due to delays.

He said: "This is disgusting. Staff have been helpful in saying what is going on but not helpful in getting us home.

"I am really, really angry and upset. Especially as I missed the appointment I came up here for."

Julie, 23, is travelling from Manchester to Eastbourne. She joined the queue about an hour ago.

She said: "This is awful. I am apparently going get a bus to Three Bridges. My parents may have to come and get me from Gatwick - but I don't want to think about what happens if I can't get there."

Steven O'Shea, 46, is travelling to Brighton. He has been told he is getting a bus to three bridges before going on to Brighton.

"I have been in the queue for 50 minutes and have no idea what time I will be able to get on the bus to Three Bridges."
