New workspace created in wake of Croydon riots opens today

Saif Bonar in Matthews Yard
A new cafe and co-working space opens in Croydon today.
Matthews Yard, just off Surrey Street, is marking the occasion with a party as part of Croydon's St Georges Day festivities.
Celebrations are taking place between 10am and 4pm and all food and drink in the new cafe are just £1.
Founded by Croydon businessman Saif Bonar, Matthews Yard was created in response to last August's riots.
Mr Bonar who lives in Addiscombe, said: "The riots brought a lot of negative publicity to Croydon.
"I wanted to show that Croydon has a lot going for it and so I was inspired to invest in the borough and create Matthews Yard."
The new 300sq metre venue has undergone extensive refurbishment and incorporates a coffee shop, canteen, members lounge and workspace.
