Police seize mini-moto after Selhurst incident
A nuisance scooter driver has had his scooter confiscated after police caught him without insurance.
On Sunday, police were called by residents on Limes Road complaining of a mini-moto being driven dangerously by youths.
Officers from the Selhurst Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT) went to the area in an unmarked police vehicle and within ten minutes saw a youth riding a mini-moto on the road, without a helmet on.
When they stopped the 17 year-old and checked the vehicle, it was also found to be without valid road tax or insurance and the rider was not in possession of a suitable driving license.
The 17-year-old youth riding the mini-moto was prosecuted for driving without a license and without valid insurance or road tax, while the vehicle was seized.
Sergeant Kenny Parker, from the Selhurst SNT, said: “This sort of antisocial behaviour is not acceptable and when we receive any reports like this, we’ll take appropriate action as we have done here.
“Mini-moto vehicles are subject to the same laws and rules that apply to other motor vehicles when they’re ridden on public highways. I would advise anyone who owns one to bear this in mind before taking it on the road.”
