Reeves Corner has had a new lick of paint thanks to a art project run by a community group.

Shop shutters were painted under the supervision of the council’s youth offending service with the help of the Positive Arts group.

The murals show the original palace and the Croydon Minster, as well as the area around the River Wandle.

Councillor Jason Perry, cabinet member for planning, regeneration and transport, said: "This is a simple and effective solution that has really brightened up a row of shops that have been standing empty since the area was so badly damaged last August."

Paul Collins, secretary of the Croydon Old Town Business Association said: "It's great to have been able to work with the council on this project.

“Businesses in the area are keen to see as much as possible done to promote the opportunities that exist in the Old Town - and by improving what was once a very visible eyesore I'm sure this will be a real boost to everyone's confidence."
