An out-of-service 194 bus careered off the road and slammed into the front of a South End shop in the early hours of Sunday morning.
It is thought the driver lost control of the bus as it was travelling close to the junction with Aberdeen Road.
"Luckily the bus wasnt in service and although it was still really busy at that time there were no pedestrians walking close by.
Police were called just before 1am to reports of a crash and attended the scene. No one was injured and the driver has not been charged.
Treehouse bar manager Pawel Przybylsky, 28, said: "I didn't see the incident but one of my doormen told me what happened.
"Apparently, for no obvious reason, the driver swerved in the road and slammed through the railings and into the shop. Luckily the bus wasn't in service and although it was still really busy at that time there were no pedestrians walking close by."
A Transport for London (TfL) spokesman said: "We will be working with the bus operator, Arriva, and the police to carry out a full investigation into this incident.
"The bus was returning from West Croydon bus station to South Croydon garage, it went into the railings and into the shop fronts in South End at the junction of Aberdeen Road."
