New paving, tree planting and improved seating will be the next stage of the refurbishment taking place in North End later this month.

The work to take place between the main Whitgift entrance and Drummond Road is part of £240,000 improvements taking place in the town centre's main shopping street.

The work is expected to be completed by the end of spring and is aimed at making the pedestrianised area more attractive and to deter traffic.

A further £50,000 from Transport for London will pay for works between Poplar Walk and Station Road, including footway improvements and a new drainage system.
