A Croydon councillor is set to be booted out of the town hall after allegedly failing to attend any meetings in the last six months.
Legal officers at the council have written to Selsdon and Ballards Tory councillor Julian Storey warning him he faces the chop.
In what is likely to be the first case of its kind in Croydon the council could be reduced from 70 members to 69. A deadline of Thursday is believed to have been given for the councillor to respond.
The decision to send the letter was taken after Coun Storey allegedly failed to attend enough meetings to fulfil his minimum statutory requirements.
David Osland, Conservative whip at Croydon Council, said: "I know Julian had a lot of difficulty meeting the council's requirements for attendance because he is a pilot and flies a great deal. We would regret his loss but the consequences are clear."
Coun Storey was unavailable for comment when the Croydon Guardian went to press.
