Waddon byelection in brief

Webcasts of council meetings will be suspended in the run-up to the Waddon byelection, infuriating one candidate.

Mark Samuel, of the People’s Choice party, cannot understand why the recording of council meetings, except the appointment of the new mayor, will be stopped until after the byelection.

He said: “How could anything said or done in a broadcast after any election, possibly affect its outcome?”

A council spokesman said: “The returning officer took the decision it would be inappropriate to continue webcasting during the formal period ahead of the byelection in Waddon.”

WASTEFUL

The Labour party has attacked the “wasteful” £2m refurbishment of Taberner House’s reception.

Candidate Ian Payne said he could not see the sense in spending the cash only for the building to be pulled down.

Councillor Gavin Barwell said: “When this came to cabinet I went through the measures and highlited the lifespan of the facility. When there was sensible discussion everyone agreed but now there is a byelection on they are criticising.”

Morning all!! Did anyone see todays Daily Mail ? please look away if you are of a nervous disposition lol... 'Eighty foreign murderers welcomed to Britain' Yes, it appears that nastyoltom's claim some weeks ago on the good C.G. forum that, 'people are carefully vetted before being allowed into the U.K.' is simply just not true - these eighty murderers used a fool-proof-method of simply using bogus names and false papers to claim asylum in the U.K. often pretending to be from Kosovo when infact they are from Albania!! Even the chief of Albania's police has hit out that these people have been granted British citizenship'

On page two of the Mail it says, '150,000 foreigners swell U.K. workforce' ...as we all know how daft this is as Britain is in a deep recession now - more silly policies forcing good, honest, folk, to abandon those who've abandoned us!! No wonder the people of Bexley voted for the party we shall not mention in case it upsets the resident extremist on here - Oh yes, the people supported the candidate who was a respected member of the community and ex-policeman of a senior rank... just eight votes short of victory!! Always another time!! Please just ignore the fakers and shakers on here who post up cryptic clues about unpaved avenues near to where you live ?? hoping - and failing to prevent you from posting sensible, honest, and alternative views to theirs... these extremists are feeling the heat at the moment!! lmao!! Just vote for who you like - if you place your 'x' in the 'wrong' box then it's no use complaining afterwards you don't like the taste of the medicine being dished out by these mainstream politicians who keep saying - 'this is good for you - and the country' - it's false - and it tastes nasty!! just like some who post on here!! SOB!!

Quite amusing that Labour are accusing the Tories of waste. lmao. This is the party that put the council £20m in debt by wasting literaly millions of hard earned taxpayer pounds. How out of touch these idiots are. Lets hope Labour gets punished by the people of Waddon.

OAPS feel let down and we are the victims of crime i see poeple coming in to this country and getting help before our OAPS we are not safe in our homes and everyone is complaining about it please do not try to tell me who to vote for in the futchure but i think i will change my view and not vote for any of the main parties anymore enough is enough we are not been looked after in our own country.Thank you

Yes, you are being let down Cr2... you make a lot of sense my friend and you have every right to feel let down by Labour or Conservative - they have taken good, decent, honest, people like your goodself for granted, thinking you'll always vote for them... you can 'google' any political party you wish to find out more information on... do you know what 'google' is ? it's a search engine on your computer - type in the word 'google' and click on it... type in which political party you wish to find our about - and then have a read through their website. Tell your friends what you are intending to do - and don't forget there are some BIG european elections in 2009 coming up where we can all have our say, good luck Cr2 - good folk like yourself can have a say... and well done for joining the internet - your contributions on this site have been a joy to read.

On a point of clarification, I understand that the council has banned the webcasting of the remainder of the council meeting of 26 January 2009, for ever. In other words, it will never be available for viewing, even AFTER the Waddon election on 12 February 2009!
